Microsoft is rolling out Cortana on Skype beginning today

It"s been over a year and a half since Microsoft first announced that it would be adding Cortana integration into its Skype clients, and Insiders have had it for months, but today, the company is finally beginning to roll out the feature to all users.

One of the features is smart replies, which from our experience, can work quite well or extremely terrible, depending on the situation. The feature offers suggested responses that you can use with a tap. Those can also include things like restaurants, or movie reviews.

As you"d expect from Cortana, it can also schedule events and set reminders. For example, if someone asks you to buy movie tickets tomorrow, you"ll get an option to set a reminder.

Finally, you can have natural language conversations with Cortana, as it"s now a contact in Skype. If it"s anything like the early Insider Previews were, Cortana will be pinned to the top of your contacts until you remove it. When you converse with it though, you can do everything you"d expect from an interaction with the virtual assistant, like asking questions, tracking a flight, and more.

Unfortunately, despite Skype being a platform that supports video calling, you can"t yet set up a call with Cortana from Halo, even in Windows Mixed Reality, as much as we might like to.

The feature begins rolling out today to Android and iOS, but it will be a gradual rollout. At the moment, it"s exclusive to the United States.
