Thanks Vla who gave me a link to a page that shows a welcome move by Microsoft to offer a service to inform Home users of Security Bulletins, read on.
Microsoft Corp. is now offering a convenient way for home and other nontechnical users to stay abreast of the latest security information and patches for Microsoft® products. Delivered via e-mail starting this month, the new Microsoft Security Update newsletter contains timely and prescriptive information on security issues in a clear and concise format. This is part of the ongoing Microsoft commitment to help all users protect their computers.
"We are pleased to see an increased interest in computer security among our customers. At Microsoft, we recognize that security is job one, and we must continually improve our products to better defend against ever-changing security threats. It"s important that home users -- as well as our enterprise customers -- have timely information and security updates to help keep their systems as secure as possible," said Steve Lipner, director of security assurance for Microsoft. "We encourage interested consumer users to take advantage of this new service and continue to use tools such as Windows® Update and Automatic Update."
