Microsoft launches new Chinese web store on Tmall.com

In October, Microsoft launched its official webstore in China, just before the launch of Windows 8 and the Surface RT tablet. Today, Microsoft launched yet another "official" online website in China, this time in concert with the Tmall.com website, which is the largest retail website in that country.

Microsoft"s press release says that the MicrosoftStore.Tmall.com website will offer over 50 products for sale to Chinese residents, including Surface tablets, Windows Phone-based smartphones, Office software and more. It added:

As a complementary extension to the Microsoft Online Store, the Tmall.com flagship store will also offer pre-sales and post-sales services using online chat, a Microsoft Store exclusive complimentary Up & Running Service customized for Surface customers in China to assist with their initial set up and use, and most importantly, a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee backed by one of the best support and return policies in China today.

The news of this new Chinese web sales presence comes on the heels of Microsoft expanding its own retail stores in the US. A few days ago, we reported that Microsoft is currently hiring for new specialty Microsoft Store locations in a number of US cities. However, the company has yet to launch retail stores outside the US and Canada.
