Windows Live Essentials 2011, the suite of small Windows programs from Microsoft, will be getting an update later this week with a number of improvements to many of the programs. In a blog post on the Microsoft web site, Microsoft team member Arthur de Haan goes over the updates. One of them will be adding full SSL in the Windows Live Mail Client. The update will also fix "a sorting issue in the Sent items folder and improved the upload reliability and instrumentation in Photo mail" according to the update.
Windows Live Messenger, one of the most used programs in Windows Live Essentials, will also get an update that will fix some stability issues along with adding some improvements for in its audio and video features. Haan added, "We fixed an issue that was causing sound to be lost after upgrading, and we improved performance when displaying the MSN Today page in the main window." The Photo Gallery program has also gotten an update that will fix issues with the program crashing when launching the program "through Autoplay and facial recognition." The update also has "other usability, performance, and stability improvements across the suite of Windows Live Essentials apps."
The new version of Windows Live Essentials 2011 will be available via download later this week at Microsoft"s Download Center along with https://explore.live.com/. Current users of the software suite will also be prompted to update to the new version later this month via an automatic update.
