After a long wait, Microsoft’s upcoming Lumia 950 XL smartphone is now available for pre-order in the United States, directly via the Microsoft Store. An unlocked version of the handset is currently available to order and costs $649. The device is scheduled to ship next week, on November 25, a few days after the arrival of its smaller sibling, the Lumia 950.
The Lumia 950 XL was announced last month, and has been built for Windows 10 Mobile, including support for built-in biometric security feature ‘Windows Hello’; and ‘Continuum’, where a PC-like experience can be offered by the phone via the optional Microsoft Display Dock.
The specifications for the device are as follows:
- 5.7 inch WQHD (1440x2560) OLED display (518ppi)
- Snapdragon 810, 64-bit Octa core
- Iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello
- 3GB of RAM
- 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot
- 20MP PureView rear camera with triple LED flash, OIS
- 5MP Wide-angle front facing camera
- 3300 mAh removable battery
- USB Type-C
As seen in some other markets, the handset will come with a Microsoft Display Dock bundled for no additional cost in the US, accessible through a coupon activated via the ‘Lumia Offers’ application pre-installed on the handset.
