Microsoft Malaysia is offering a free return flight on Air Asia when you buy a Lumia 535

Microsoft"s local and regional offices around the world have been coming up with all sorts of ways to get people buying the company"s smartphones - including big promotional discounts, and even the offer of a free extra handset.

Microsoft Malaysia is getting in on the action too, with an offer that many buyers may well find appealing. When you buy a Lumia 535 from one of dozens of participating retailers across Malaysia, you"ll get 5,000 points in Air Asia"s BIG Loyalty Programme - that"s enough to get a free return flight to Phuket, Krabi or Singapore (although you"ll still have to pay relevant taxes, fees and other applicable charges).

The offer is available to anyone buying the low-cost Windows Phone in Malaysia before April 30. Buyers will have to sign up for the airline"s loyalty scheme in order to collect their points and, of course, various terms and conditions will apply.

Key specs of the Lumia 535 include:

  • 5-inch IPS LCD with qHD (960x540px) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB onboard storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB)
  • 5MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash
  • 5MP front-facing camera with fixed focus and wide-angle lens
  • Accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 4.0 LE
  • 1905mAh battery

The device comes with Lumia Denim and Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 pre-installed, but like the "majority" of Microsoft"s current Lumia range, it will be upgradable to Windows 10 later this year.
