Microsoft might let users open Windows 10 Mail links in other browsers after all

Earlier this year, it was discovered that Microsoft wanted to force users of the Mail app in Windows 10 to open links within messages using Microsoft Edge, forcing them away from other browsers. While the company did say at the time that the "feature" was only in testing, many may not have believed it would change its stance.

It seems that"s not the case, however, as Aggiornamenti Lumia has discovered screenshots of an unreleased version of the Mail app which provides users with the option to open links with other browsers. By default, users will still be using Microsoft Edge to open links from within the app, but the company will apparently make it possible to turn this off, which is a step forward, at least.

The screenshot also showcases some visual changes, including icons for each account added to the app, as well as what appear to be icons for folders.

It"s unclear when this version of the Mail & Calendar app will be rolling out to users, as our testing devices in the Insider program aren"t seeing it yet, but those who felt restricted by Microsoft"s changes now have something to look forward to in the near future.
