Microsoft mistakenly announces Internet Explorer 9 launch for March 24

Microsoft India appeared to have made a mistake in tweeting that Internet Explorer 9 final will be made available on March 24, because the tweet was quickly pulled, but not before The Windows Club managed to save a screenshot of the tweet!

Although this date could also be incorrect, hence the quick retraction. Almost two weeks ago, Microsoft unveiled plans for a special celebration for "Beauty of the Web" hosted by the Internet Explorer 9 team. The Internet Explorer team made the announcement on their blog but did not specify if this will be the launch event for IE 9.

That date is March 14th, which puts the event a full ten days before the Indian MSDN Team announcement.

As Neowin"s sources suggested, Microsoft is planning to announce something major on this date. Exact details were not given, but they suggest that Microsoft will announce something that relates directly to IE 9. The event will begin at 9PM on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Moody Theater.

So the only assurance so far is that IE9 will release in March.

Thanks to Pradeep of Microsoft News for the tip.
