Microsoft moves Ignite back to September, and this year it will be in New Orleans

Today, Microsoft announced when and where it will be holding its next Ignite conference. The show will be held from September 21 until September 25 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

It"s a big change in venue from what we"ve previously seen. Ignite used to be known as TechEd, and the first actual Ignite show was in 2015, and it was in Chicago. In 2016, it was moved to Atlanta, and it was billed as a premier event. After that, it was located in Orlando for the following three years. The first two of those were in September, while last year"s was in November.

The change in date last year was likely due to the fact that in previous years, the show was threatened by hurricanes. After all, if Microsoft had to cancel Ignite - its biggest conference of the year - that would be a waste of millions of dollars.

It"s unclear if there"s an actual reason that Microsoft is moving the show to New Orleans after three years, but it does like to change things up from time to time. The same thing frequently happens with its Build conference, which will once again be held in Seattle this year.
