Microsoft has taken top spot in the eighth annual Top 500 Business Superbrands survey, revealed today.
Google, which ranked first in 2008 and 2009, has now slipped to 5th place, whilst Microsoft took the first place slot after being 2nd in 2007 and 2008, and 5th in 2009. The annual survey is compiled by The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA) and contains a number of panel experts and over 1,700 UK business professionals. TCBA performs brand analysis including a detailed understanding of how a brand is perceived and what is driving that perception. Others in the Superbrand top 10 list include BlackBerry, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways.
Stephen Cheliotis, CEO, TCBA said: "Once again Microsoft and Google have proved their potency by fighting it out for the top spots, whilst many other brands have reaffirmed their consistent performance year on year. The financial services sector however has seen mixed results with the investment banks particularly losing ground over the year."
