Microsoft names Jim DuBois as new chief information officer

While Microsoft won"t be announcing a new chief executive officer until sometime in early 2014, it has gone ahead and named a new corporate vice-president and chief information officer. Late on Friday, the company revealed that Jim DuBois will take over in that role on January 1st, having served as its interim CIO for the past six months.

Microsoft"s press release quotes its chief operating office Kevin Truner as saying:

Jim has demonstrated outstanding leadership in managing our IT organization through the transition period while continuing to position IT as a strategic asset and growth lever for Microsoft. I am confident that, as CIO, he will continue to deliver world-class IT infrastructure and innovation for Microsoft

DuBois has worked at the company for over 20 years, including terms as its general manager of IT and vice president of Microsoft Products and Services IT. He definitely seems to be the natural choice to be the new CIO and will be in charge of all of Microsoft"s internal IT activities. The job was previously held by Tony Scott who left Microsoft earlier this year to take on the same role at VMWare.
