It"s been almost a year now since Windows 10 users were introduced to Timeline, Microsoft"s attempt to make life just a tiny bit easier for people working off multiple devices. The feature not only keeps track of which files and webpages you accessed in chronological order, but it also allows you to access these from multiple Windows devices. It even lets you share your browsing history between your Windows, iOS and Android devices so long as you use the company"s Edge browser across platforms (or the Microsoft Launcher on Android). Until recently, that is.
Web Activities, which the company released on the Chrome Web Store earlier this month without much fanfare, will do for Chrome users what Microsoft has baked into Edge. Sign in with your Microsoft account through the extension, and your browsing history will be sent to Microsoft"s servers and synced across your devices for you to pick up at your leisure.
The extension, which was last updated on February 15, seems to only have 136 users at the time of writing, but expect that number to grow quickly. An unofficial alternative that brought similar functionality to Chrome and Firefox last year currently boasts over 22,000 users - and that"s despite its earlier legal hiccups. There"s no word yet on whether Microsoft will be following suit for Firefox, but until Microsoft adds official Timeline support for Mozilla"s browser, you can just use the aforementioned "Timeline Support for Firefox" extension, which does the same thing.
If you"re interested in getting Timeline integration for Chrome, you can grab the extension here.
