Microsoft now selling Acer's Liquid Jade Primo Windows 10 Mobile bundle in the UK for £449

It"s been over a year since Acer unveiled the Liquid Jade Primo, its Windows 10 Mobile flagship. Despite its announcement last September, the device didn"t go on sale anywhere until earlier this year - and it wasn"t until July that it finally launched in the United States.

In the UK, the Liquid Jade Primo has been on sale for a bit longer than that, but now, it"s available to buy from the Microsoft Store there too.

Acer is currently selling the device on its UK site for £449.99, which includes a free flip-cover, and a free desktop docking station, which allows owners to use a mouse and keyboard with the device when connected to a larger display. This feature, known as Continuum, is one of the key selling points of high-end Windows 10 Mobile handsets.

But as in the US, the Microsoft Store is selling the Liquid Jade Primo in a Continuum bundle that includes:

  • the handset itself
  • desktop dock
  • mouse
  • keyboard

The Microsoft Store bundle is priced at £449 - that"s about the same price as that of buying direct from Acer, but for the same amount, you"ll get a mouse and keyboard thrown in (although you won"t get the free flip-cover).

Note that the monitor isn"t included in the bundle

The Liquid Jade Primo"s key specs include:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD (1920x1080px) AMOLED screen
  • Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB storage (plus microSD card support up to 128GB)
  • 21MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 4K (3840x2160px) video recording
  • 8MP front-facing camera with Full HD (1920x1080px) video recording
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • USB Type-C connector
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • Dual-SIM support
  • 2800mAh battery
  • 156.5 x 75.9 x 8.4mm; 150g

But even with the Microsoft Store"s more generous bundle offering than that of Acer itself, you might want to think twice before buying the Liquid Jade Primo.

Two weeks ago, Microsoft cut the price of its own Windows 10 Mobile flagships in the UK for the third time this year, reducing the Lumia 950 XL to £339, and the smaller Lumia 950 to £249. A few days later, it also began giving away a free Display Dock worth £79.99 with either handset.

The 950"s specs are roughly equivalent to - and in some ways, better than - those of the Liquid Jade Primo, despite now being priced considerably lower than the Acer device. Microsoft isn"t offering a free mouse and keyboard with the Lumia 950, but with the £200 savings compared with getting the Acer, that shouldn"t be a problem.
