Microsoft offers $1000 if Internet celebs don't like Windows Phone 7

Are you a well known Internet celebrity who uses an iPhone or Android-based smartphone but haven"t yet tried out a phone based on Windows Phone 7? Then Microsoft has an offer for you. Techie-buzz.com has spotted a couple of blog comment posts from one of the members of Microsoft"s Windows Phone 7 team. The comments include an interesting offer for well known Internet celebs who may want to check out the next version of the operating system with the Mango update.

The offer began on Scott Adams" blog site (yes, the creator of the Dilbert comic strip) where Adams complained about issues with his Android based phone. Microsoft"s Brandon Watson, who works on the developer platform for Windows Phone 7, posted a comment on Adams" blog post. Watson states, "Since your readership has a high probability of cross over with our developer base, how about I make you a deal with one of the phones we reserve for developers. Take Windows Phone for a spin. I"ll send you a developer phone with the new Mango OS on it. Give it an honest run, and if you don"t love it more than either of your iPhone or Android experiences, I"ll make a $1000 donation to the charity of your choice. You can"t really lose on this deal." Watson even gives out his email and phone number for Adams to contact him. So far there"s no word on if Adams will be taking up Watson on his offer.

Watson has also extended the same offer to CNet"s Molly Wood on her Twitter page after she encountered issues with her Android powered Droid X phone. It should be interesting to see if Adams and Wood give any kudos to a Windows Phone 7 based device or if Watson and Microsoft are forced to pony up some money to charity instead.
