After releasing a stable update for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, the company is preparing to roll out an Xbox Update Preview to Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. The most prominent feature within the experimental update is ‘Party Chat – Noise Suppression’, which promises to improve the listening experience by filtering out ambient noise.
Microsoft has assured that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles. The new update doesn’t seem to change or update any visual aspects. The details of the update are as below:
- OS version released: XB_FLT_2208NI\22621.1501.220509-2200
- Available: 2 p.m. PT – May 11, 2022
- Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – May 12, 2022
While there are several bug fixes and solutions to improve the stability of the gaming console, Microsoft is pushing the Party Chat – Noise Suppression feature. It is important to note that the feature will be available to Alpha Skip-Ahead users via the Xbox Update Preview.
The Party Chat – Noise Suppression feature essentially accepts the microphone input and puts it through a noise suppression step. Microsoft claims this process should help, “produce cleaner audio in your Party Chat session”. The new feature is enabled by default. However, it can be easily toggled off from the dropdown options menu.
Besides the above-mentioned feature, Microsoft has included a fix to address an issue that randomly prevented the Xbox consoles from connecting to a local network. Some users have also been complaining about their consoles randomly losing connection with controllers or audio muting automatically. Microsoft is advising users facing such issues to reboot their consoles. However, before rebooting, the company is requesting users to submit feedback which could help in analyzing and resolving the problems.
