Earlier this month, Microsoft confirmed it was planning to expand its retail store locations into China. Now, it looks like the company has started the process of making those stores into a reality as it is now looking for someone to lead the development of those new locations.
A listing on the Microsoft Careers website states the company is looking for a senior director of international retail operations, who will take on the task of opening new stores outside of North America. Microsoft"s job listing states, "This is a key role on the leadership team and will be responsible to drive the build out and staffing of physical stores."
It would appear that Microsoft is going to try to open up its first international stores in China, rather than expand first in Europe or other parts of the world. The job listing states that whomever is hired to be the international Microsoft Store leader will not only have to relocate to Shanghai but be fluent in both English and Mandarin.
The new international store head will naturally be in charge of hiring all of the managers and other employees of the stores that Microsoft will open overseas but will have to keep the culture of those stores "consistent with the Microsoft Stores culture in the U.S."
