This week we have seen a lot of Microsoft products released on non-Microsoft platforms. A version of the OneNote software was released this week for Apple"s iPad. Its Skydrive client software was also released for the iOS platform. Now a new article on ZDNet has revealed that Microsoft has even more plans to release its productivity software products on non-Windows mobile platforms.
Tom Rizzo, the Senior Director of Microsoft"s cloud-based Office 365 software division, is quoted as saying, "We want to work where people work, whether it’s online or offline, and on various platforms." Some people have noticed that Microsoft seems to be more interested in releasing software that will work on the iOS platform, rather than Android which actually has a bigger market share in the smartphone industry. Rizzo states, "Android is more of a consumer device play. But iOS and iPad are mattering more in the enterprise."
Of course the big question is, "When is Microsoft Office going to come to the iPad?" While there are rumors that Microsoft is actively working for that iPad port to happen, so far Microsoft has yet to confirm that it is even working on such a project.
