It could be argued that Microsoft has experienced a slight struggle on the gaming front in the last year or so. While the company has released high-quality titles to gamers - such as Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 - it has also received significant backlash for canceling others like Scalebound and Fable Legends.
Now, Microsoft may be looking to improve its image by working on what appears to be a VR/MR game with an emphasis on "immersive social systems".
According to a job listing on Microsoft"s website, the company is looking for an "experienced senior design manager" skilled in creating social experiences. The listing states that:
Do you love MMOs? Are you excited about Virtual Reality? Would you like every Xbox user to experience your design every time they use it? We are embarking on a bold charter and need your help us take the next step. The Xbox Mixed Reality team is looking for an experienced senior design manager with deep expertise and passion around crafting immersive social systems and experiences. We’re looking to build a massively social gaming and entertainment experience for both the PC and the console. Here is an opportunity to join a fun and collaborative team that experiments with the latest toys, works with state of the art tech, and crafts the future of entertainment.
Microsoft has also highlighted a range of prerequisite skills and experience for applicants - which includes having shipped at least three AAA consumer-oriented entertainment products and more than seven years of experience with design tools. Moreover, responsibilities and behavioral expectations have been outlined as well.
All in all, it looks like Microsoft could be working on a major VR/MR title. With the release of Xbox Scorpio just around the corner, with a focus on VR, it"s possible that Microsoft is looking to add the title to its Xbox Play Anywhere lineup.
