In September 2015, Acer announced the Liquid Jade Primo, its Windows 10 Mobile flagship, but it wasn"t until September 2016 that the Microsoft Store began selling the device in the UK. Initially, Microsoft only offered the device in a £449 bundle, which included a desktop dock, mouse and keyboard, to allow buyers to take advantage of the operating system"s PC-like Continuum mode.
But one month later, Microsoft suddenly removed the bundle from its UK Store, replacing it instead with a handset-only listing, priced at £199 - and at that price it quickly sold out. More stock arrived a couple of weeks later, offered at the same price; but now, the company has quietly increased the cost of the device.
The Microsoft Store is now selling the Liquid Jade Primo for £209.99, an increase of 5.5% over its most recent price. The listing previously made no mention of £199 being a "temporary" price or a special offer of any kind, so it"s not clear what prompted the company to raise its cost following the earlier price cut.
Even so, Microsoft"s price is far lower than that of Acer itself. The manufacturer is still selling the Liquid Jade Primo for £449.99; that price includes a free desktop docking station and flip cover for the handset, but the £240 difference compared with the Microsoft Store considerably exceeds the value of those freebies.
