There has been a lot of speculation that at E3 this year that we would see the next generation of the Xbox 360. Well, if you were hoping for that, we must let you down gently as Microsoft’s David Dennis has re-confirmed that 2012 is all about the Xbox 360 and that they will not be showcasing next-generation hardware at E3.
The quote was obtained directly from an email sent by David Dennis: “’For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360,’ Microsoft"s Dennis says in a statement explaining that there will be no talk/show of new Xbox at E3”, courtesy of Dina Bass. It does not get much clearer than that, which will most likely put a damper on many expectations for the upcoming tradeshow.
Little is known about the next generation of the Xbox platform; it is currently rumored that the console will drop support for disc based games and instead favor digital downloads. Some speculation has said that the platform will support Blu-Ray but these two rumors currently contradict each other.
