Microsoft today pushed an updated preview version of the Xbox app for Windows 10 and 11. If you participate in the Xbox Insider program, separate from the Windows Insider program, you can download the latest release with a redesigned navigation.
Version 2203.1000.21.0 changes how navigation works in the Xbox app. It brings a new non-collapsible sidebar with five main sections: Game Pass, My Library, Cloud Gaming, Community, and Store. The current stable version of the Xbox app for Windows keeps those sections at the top of the window next to the search button.
Below the main sections, you will find the list of installed games and yet another button for accessing Game Pass. The latter lets you browse all games available in Game Pass for PC.
Another change is that the search field is now permanent. It no longer collapses into a small button, allowing you to search for games on any screen inside the app. Finally, Microsoft moved the profile and notification icons from right to left. You can click your profile name to reveal the main menu with settings, support, feedback, etc.
If you want to test early versions of the Xbox app on Windows, download Xbox Insider Hub from the Microsoft Store. Keep in mind that enlisting in the test program will cause all your Windows devices to download preview versions of the Xbox app, even on stable versions of Windows 10 and 11.
