Microsoft has released the first trailer for "Halo: Nightfall," giving fans their first glimpse of the upcoming digital video series.
"Nightfall," which takes place between the events of "Halo 4" and "Halo 5: Guardians," stars Mike Colter as Jameson Locke, who will also serve a key role in the franchise"s Xbox One game slated for release next year as a playable character. Microsoft representatives were on hand at San Diego Comic-Con today to discuss the series, saying it will push interactive entertainment on the console.
Little is known about the plot of the series, though the trailer indicates that an "element" that "selectively kills humans and nothing else" will be a main story point. According to the panel at Comic-Con, Locke and compatriots will be "caught in a horrific terrorist attack while investigating terrorist activity on the distant colony world of Sedra." Microsoft says "Nightfall" will connect to the Halo games "in innovative new ways," though no information is given on what features are planned for the series.
"Nightfall" is scheduled to be available digitally on Xbox Live beginning Nov. 11 and will be included in "Halo: The Master Chief Collection," a Xbox One remake of the first four entries in the franchise"s main storyline.
