Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of PWABuilder 2.0, the tool that makes it easy to turn any web app into a progressive web app (PWA). First of all, the web app now includes an all-new design, which is meant to make it easier to use.
There"s a hub page that"s meant to be the central point of information for your PWA. It provides information about your service workers, manifest, site security, and it links to top snippits.
There"s also a new Feature Store, which will direct you to various snippets of code that you can copy and paste into your app. You can use it to add Windows Timeline support, add the Microsoft Graph, support geolocation tracking, and more. Microsoft also wants feedback on the Feature Store, so if you"ve got an idea for a new feature, you can request it on Github.
If you"re wondering what"s next, you can probably guess that it"s PWABuilder 2.1. The plan is to allow you to package your PWA as a Trusted Web Activity, so you can more easily deploy your PWA on the Google Play Store. There will also be refreshes on the design of the manifest editor and service worker picker pages. Finally, Microsoft plans to make sure that the PWABuilder service works better on mobile devices.
