Microsoft releases User Experience Virtualization Beta 2

Microsoft has now released a second beta version of User Experience Virtualization, the company"s new desktop virtualization program; the first beta was released back in April. In a post on Microsoft"s Springboard series blog, the company talks more about what has been added to this second beta version.

One new addition is support for roaming operating system settings between Windows 7 and Windows 8. Microsoft states:

In Beta 1 we were able to roam operating system settings between Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 which was great. But as many of you are starting to test Windows 8, we heard that you wanted to roam settings between Windows 7 and Windows 8 so you don’t have to reconfigure your operating system experience. Now with Beta 2, you can roam the relevant operating system settings between Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The second beta for UE-V also allows for the roaming of other OS systems, including the Start menu, the taskbar, region setting and language settings. Users can set up the roaming of some folder options such as being able to see normally hidden files and extensions for known file types. Microsoft has also added a way to have roaming setting for Internet Explorer 8 as well as IE 9 and IE 10 in the second beta.

Microsoft points out that some of these new roaming settings can only be put into place when a person logs in and logs off. You can download the second beta for UE-V at its official web site. People who have already got the first beta must uninstall it before installing the second version.
