This has been a busy month for Windows 10 updates. After Patch Tuesday, every supported version of the OS received another two cumulative updates. Today though, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, or version 1607, is getting its fourth cumulative update of July.
This update is also for those that are on Windows Server 2016. This seems like a much more common use case, as the latest AdDuplex report says that just 2.2% of Windows 10 users are on version 1607.
KB4346877 brings the build number to 14393.2396, and it"s a pretty small fix. It just has a fix for an issue that was presented by the July 2018 update to the .NET Framework. Here"s the full changelog:
This update addresses an issue that was introduced in the July 2018 .NET Framework update. Applications that rely on COM components were failing to load or run correctly because of “access denied,” “class not registered,” or “internal failure occurred for unknown reasons” errors.
For more information about this issue, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
4345913 "Access Denied" errors and applications with COM activation fail after installing July 2018 Security and Quality Rollup updates for .NET Framework
You can manually download the update here, or you can just wait for Windows Update to do it automatically.
