It"s once again time to point out that we"re one step closer to Windows phones being a thing of the past. Today, Microsoft removed the Alcatel IDOL 4S with Windows 10 from its online Microsoft Store.
The news is hardly surprising, with the Windows 10 Mobile handset being over a year and a half old at this point. It was one of only two Windows devices to be released that included Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 820 chipset, alongside of HP"s Elite x3. The two devices were the last two mainstream Windows phones to be produced.
Now, that leaves the HP Elite x3 as the only Windows phone that"s still for sale, after the Microsoft Lumia 735 was recently removed from Verizon"s website. The Elite x3 is still listed on the Microsoft Store, and while it"s currently out of stock, it does tend to reappear once in a while. So if you"re looking for one more Windows phone to buy, you"re going to want to keep an eye out for that.
These days, Microsoft is focusing on Windows 10 on ARM PCs, rather than smartphones. Companies like ASUS, HP, and Lenovo have produced PCs that use Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 835 chipset, and the technology is continuing to move forward.
