Earlier this week, Microsoft launched a new look for its video search results page on Bing. Today, the company continues on its Bing redesign binge with a revamped interface for its News page that has been optimized for touchscreens.
The official Bing blog has a walk-through of the updated News page, which Microsoft says will automatically adjust its layout to fit any browser width, whether it is displayed on a smartphone, tablet, notebook or big screens. Below the main headlines on the News page is a image carousel called Trending Topics, which quickly lists the current hottest news stories.
Below the main headlines, users can also see what news items are trending on Facebook and Twitter to the right side of the News page. Finally, Microsoft states they are using their Satori technology, which offers quick information boxes when searching for people, places and things, in the News section. The blog states, "By harnessing Satori, Bing News is able to identify people that are associated with trending news. Now, you can see people and places that are related to the latest headlines of the day without needing to click to a new page."
This is just the latest move by Microsoft to evolve the Bing service so that it becomes a massive database of information that can be accessed quickly so it rivals similar efforts like Google Now and Apple"s Siri.
