Microsoft reveals the Lumia 950 and 950 XL by mistake

October 6. That"s the date for Microsoft fans to remember, the day when the company is widely expected to refresh its major hardware offerings, including the Surface Pro, Microsoft Band and its upcoming Lumia flagships. However, the company has prematurely revealed its new high-end Lumia handsets on its website.

While pricing and availability were not revealed, the "leak" at least confirms Microsoft"s branding for its "Talkman" and "Cityman" devices, which are expected to go on sale as the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, respectively.

This also confirms a lot of what was revealed in earlier leaks regardingthe phones" specifications said. To recap:

  • 20MP PureView rear camera with triple LED flash
  • 1mm silver ring inside the circumference of the black camera pod
  • Aluminum side buttons
  • 5MP Wide-angle front facing camera
  • 3300 mAh removable battery
  • Qi wireless charging integrated
  • USB Type-C

Excitement for these devices is high among the Windows community, as they are expected to rejuvenate Microsoft"s stagnating Mobile OS, serving as the first showcases of Microsoft"s vision of a unified platform across devices, powered by Windows and the Universal App Platform.
