Earlier this week, Microsoft launched a massive update to Xbox Video on Windows 8.1, giving it a complete redesign to bring it in line with the look and feel of the Xbox Music app. Following on from this, the company has now rolled out an update for Xbox Video on Windows Phone.
The update for the Windows Phone app isn"t quite as dramatic as the new version for Windows 8.1, but it does bring some welcome improvements and fixes. The company says that it has resolved a number of issues that arose when trying to resume videos in the app.
Some users reported choppy playback when resuming, while others found that resuming would actually restart the video a few seconds after where they had previously paused it. Some also had problems whereby the resume point would be lost when turning closed captions on or off. All of these problems should now be sorted.
Other problems that Microsoft says it has resolved include:
- Difficulties with deleting personal videos
- Attempting to restore purchase history would not restore all items
- Problems when attempting to acquire a download licence for some Season Pass content
Finally, the full-screen button has now been fixed, and users should find that it is available once more during playback.
Is this the most exciting update ever? Well, no, of course not. But as nice as it is to get new features, it"s still nice to get updates that enhance the overall user experience through improved stability and fewer bugs, and that"s exactly what Microsoft has aimed for with this latest rollout (although we"re still keeping our fingers crossed for some cool new features with the next update...).
