Microsoft has let a few Xbox One owners gain access to some upcoming features via its preview program ahead of time but soon, all owners of its latest game console will be able to download and install the latest system update which has quite a few changes.
The Xbox Wire website has the details of what"s included in the April update. One of them is the long awaited notification feature which will let Xbox One owners finally see when their friends and favorites sign onto Xbox Live. Any friends who are engaged in multiplayer games will also be identified as such on the friends list.
A game save progress bar will be added after this week"s update, along with a way to see which games and apps have recently been updated. Also, after this week, any future updates for consoles in "Instant On" mode will happen automatically and there will be an option to immediately download one if it is available.
Microsoft continues to improve how the Xbox One"s Kinect device works and this update offers some fine tuning for both its voice and gesture controls. There"s also some controller and headset firmware improvements in this download and the console"s Game DVR feature will soon offer better video quality. Finally, the Blu-Ray player will support 50 Hz video output for content recorded at 50 Hz. The update will be made available for all Xbox One owners over the course of the next few days.
