Microsoft set to launch Zune Pass internationally

Microsoft is set to launch its Zune Pass subscription service internationally, according to sources familiar with the company"s plans.

The subscription service is currently only available in the United States. Company officials are working day and night to secure Zune Pass internationally in various markets. Neowin understands that the UK will receive the Zune Pass service at Windows Phone 7 launch. Other European countries are in the works but it"s unclear whether the company will secure these in time for the Windows Phone 7 launch. In countries that have the Xbox-exclusive Zune video services, the Zune Video services will also be available on new Windows Phone 7 devices even if the music subscription part isn"t ready.

Neowin revealed the UK Zune Pass pricing in July. A one month subscription to the service is £8.99 and a three month subscription is priced at £26.97. Zune Pass provides unlimited access to the several million songs Microsoft offers with its Zune Marketplace. Users can access the Marketplace using PC software, in a browser or on a Zune HD device. Microsoft will also bring the service to Windows Phone 7 and the Xbox 360. The subscription service allows users to temporarily download an unlimited number of songs for the length of the Zune Pass subscription, as well as permanently keep up to 10 tracks per month.
