Microsoft debuted their new home page today, showing off their Metro UI style redesign. Microsoft has finally ditched the old style of homepage and launched their new preview home page in the United States.
The new design to the homepage features a Windows Phone 7 style Metro UI, allowing you to side-scroll the website. The featured tiles, "for home" and "for work", showcase Microsoft"s two largest software assets. The "for home" tab shows off software like Internet Explorer 9, Windows Live Essentials 2011, Windows Updates, and even Kinect for the Xbox 360. This page also features a number of top products including Office 2010, Windows Phone 7, more Windows Live programs and Bing.
The "for work" tile focuses on Office 2010 and other business oriented software products. This page focuses on server products, Office for the work place, Microsoft Dynamics AX and many other products and services.
The new Metro UI style homepage is not only a much needed update, but a refreshing look for the same old microsoft.com homepage. Other countries will likely see the new homepage in the near future, but for now the new design looks to be U.S. only.
