Microsoft is adding a new feature to the Store on Windows 10 devices and the Xbox One, the Shopping Cart. The announcement was made on Xbox Wire and it says the feature is rolling out to Insiders in the Ship Ahead, Preview Alpha, and Preview Beta rings of the Xbox Insider Program, but we"re also seeing it show up on consumer Windows 10 devices outside of the Insiders builds program.
The Shopping Cart is pretty straightforward. You"ll see a new icon next to the Search button from where you can access the list of items you"ve added to the cart. You can add new items through the ellipsis menu next to the Buy or Install button in the Store listing of the item. The cart is synchronized across the web, PC, and Xbox, so you can manage your saved items from any platform.
There are a couple of known issues with the Shopping Cart feature, as listed in the announcement:
Anonymous Cart
- On PC, users toggling between Do not track and Allow anonymous tracking will see discrepancies between the contents of their anonymous shopping carts.
- Does not affect the Shopping Carts of users who are logged in with an MSA/Gamertag.
Navigation
- We’re aware of issues navigating carousels of products from the Cart page (scroll has been disabled).
This is one of the many improvements Microsoft has made to its Store over the last few months. Recently, the Windows 10 version received a major redesign for app listings, and developers can now benefit from faster publishing times, too.
The Shopping Cart is rolling out gradually to Insiders in the mentioned rings, and Microsoft warns that it could be several hours before it"s available to everyone. As previously mentioned, It is also making its way to the general public as well.
