While Microsoft continues to expand its own retail store locations in the US and Canada, the company is also going to help sell Windows products in a new joint "store within a store" venture at Best Buy and Future Shop stores.
In a post on Microsoft"s Windows blog, the company revealed that it will open these stores at 500 Best Buy locations in the US and more than 100 Best Buy and Future Shop stores in Canada. Those retail locations will devote between 1,500 to 2,200 square feet of their space to Microsoft products, including "Windows tablets and PCs, Windows Phones, Microsoft Office, Xbox and more."
Chris Capossela, the Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, states:
The other unique thing about the Windows Store is the people. There will be an additional 1,200 staff on hand to provide a great customer experience, whether it’s choosing the right PC or showing consumers how to stream Xbox music through their Surface.
The websites for Best Buy and Future Shop will also have a "full online Windows Store experience that will mirror the in-store look-and-feel", according to Capossela. The first Microsoft "store within a store" locations will start popping up in late June and will be completed inside all of the Best Buy and Future Shop locations by September.
