When Microsoft first announced it would sell a Docking Station accessory for its Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 tablets, it indicated that it would not be available for purchase until sometime in early 2014. Now it seems that the company is selling the Docking Station on the Microsoft Store website well ahead of schedule.
The site shows the $199.99 product and a quick click on the "add to cart" button shows that people can get the Docking Station shipped to them the next day as an option. ZDNet has confirmed that some people who have already ordered the Docking Station have received their units.
The Docking Station will only work with the Surface Pro and new Surface Pro 2 tablets, and not with the original Surface or Surface 2. In addition to charging up the tablets, the Docking Station has one USB 3.0 port, three USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, 3.5 mm audio input/output connections and one mini DisplayPort.
Microsoft is also selling the new Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 accessories for the Surface family, along with the Arch Touch Surface Mouse. An exact release date for Surface line"s Power Cover has yet to be announced, however. That cover will offer an extra battery for those products and is scheduled for release sometime in early 2014.
