Microsoft Surface RT tablet to be sold at Costco

On Thursday, Microsoft"s CFO Peter Klein said we can expect to see more distribution channels for the company"s Surface tablet line. Today, there"s word that in the U.S., the Windows RT version of Surface will soon go on sale in Costco stores.

WPCentral.com received an image from a tipster that shows a listing from a Costco inventory PC screen (an old school MS-DOS screen, at that). The list shows Costco stores – which require a yearly membership – will sell the 32 GB version of the tablet, without the touch cover, for $499; it will also sell the 32 GB and 64 GB versions of the tablet with a touch cover for $599 and $699, respectively. Unlike other outlets, it looks like Costco will offer users a way to buy a Surface tablet with their choice of color for the touch cover, rather than be limited to just the black version.

This makes the fourth retail outlet in the US that will sell the Surface RT tablet. Microsoft"s retail stores were the first to offer the tablet at its Oct. 26, 2012 launch, followed by Best Buy and Staples, which began selling the tablet late last year. There"s no exact date for Costco stores will begin to sell Surface.
