Microsoft tailors apps for Samsung's new foldables under expanded partnership

Microsoft has announced that several of its Android apps including Microsoft Office, Teams, and Outlook have been optimised for Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 which the Korean firm unveiled earlier today. The new optimisations were made under an expanded form of an existing partnership between the two companies.

With the changes, you can open up your new Samsung device and have a presentation in full-screen on one half of the display while having a Teams call underneath. On Teams, you can invoke the Whiteboard and draw what you’re trying to explain using the S Pen and on Microsoft Outlook you can read an email on one half of the display while previewing other emails on the other half of the display.

Commenting on the enhancements to the apps, Patrick Chomet, Executive Vice President, Head of Mobile Products & Experiences at Samsung, said:

“With the Multi-Active window, you can run multiple apps at the same time. For example, you can open Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and easily drag and drop a table right into your presentation. Now, you can even run two instances of the same app.”

The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 will be available from August 27 in the United States, Europe, and Korea. The Fold3 will set you back $1,799.99 while the Flip3 costs $999.99.
