As the holiday shopping season approaches, not to mention the launch of Nintendo"s Wii U console on November 18th, it seems Microsoft is trying to remind people that it still has the Xbox 360 console on sale for at least one more year. Today, Microsoft quietly decided to cut the price of some of its Xbox 360 bundles by $50.
Joystiq reports that the price cuts are showing up online on a number of retail websites, including GameStop, Walmart, Amazon and others. The cuts specifically affect the Xbox 360 4 GB console with Kinect bundles which have been cut down by $50 to $249.99. The 250 GB Xbox 360 console bundle is also just $249.99. The Xbox 360 250 GB console bundle with Kinect is now available for $50 off at $349.99.
Most of the bundles console either free disk games or download codes for free retail games via Xbox Live. For example. one of the $249.99 Xbox 360 250 GB bundles contains a free disk copy of Forza Motorsport 4 and a download code for the full version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Another bundle has the same console with a free disk copy of Fable III and a downloadable code for the full version of Halo: Reach.
It"s currently unknown if these cuts are permanent or if they will just be for a limited time.
