Microsoft Research has updated its Xim app today and the company is taking the next logical step in the evolution of the product: making it easier to share images on larger screens. For those of you who are not familiar with Xim, the app makes it easy to share photos with those around you without having to hand over your phone.
The update now allows you to share your photos with media streaming devices in your home (or your friends" home) with huge levels of cross-compatibility. The Xim app is currently compatible with Xbox, Chromecast, Airplay, Fire TV and Stick, and PCs which means that with one app, you can share to nearly any platform.
Xim is still very much a research project from Microsoft but, as this post signifies, they are not pushing apps out and abandoning them. It"s quite easy to see how this particular app (and its features) can be useful for sharing content across a wide range of products very quickly.
While Microsoft isn"t saying anything officially about the future of the app, it would not surprise us to see some of these features make their way into other products.
The update is rolling out now for Windows Phone, Android and iOS.
