Microsoft is teasing "big things" for Windows at this week"s IFA technology conference in Berlin, though what the company could reveal remains a mystery.
In a tweet from the official Windows account, Microsoft tagged the conference and noted something big coming to its flagship operating system. The tweet is notable as it specifically refers to Windows and not hardware, nor did it come from the company"s OEM at Microsoft account, which typically promotes third-party hardware.

It seems unlikely the tweet is referring to Windows 9, as an announcement for Microsoft"s next major operating system refresh isn"t expected until the end of the month at the earliest, if not next month.
IFA 2014 is scheduled to last Sept. 5-10, so whatever Microsoft is teasing should be revealed soon. It"s possible the reference to the "world of Windows" means something that isn"t necessarily the desktop operating system, but an extension of the Windows line, such as wearable devices. A previous report indicated Microsoft"s smartwatch could arrive in October, which would make an unveiling soon possible.
It"s also possible Microsoft could be expanding its Windows version for the "Internet of Things," with some sort of announcement related to that coming at the conference. Microsoft even teased its Windows version for small devices by saying "the next big thing is small."
