Microsoft shocked quite a few people back in 2015 when it announced its decision to bring Cortana to Android and iOS. Since then the company has made significant strides in updating the app and bringing support to more countries.
The newest v3.0 release for the virtual assistant on Android and iOS is currently being tested by Microsoft in beta, before its release to the wider user base. It brings with it an all-new UI, and a greater focus on expanding Cortana"s functionality using voice commands.
You can now set tasks, calendar events and reminders using just voice commands, and also quickly join a Skype or Teams meeting with voice. Alongside the option of dictating emails, the new update will also bring with it better integration with music and podcast apps like Spotify, iHeartRadio and TuneIn; listening to these will now be as simple as asking Cortana to play them.
You can download Cortana on both the App Store and the Play Store, but the new changes are only available in the beta form at the moment. To try your hand at those, you"ll need to sign up for the Android beta and TestFlight programs, respectively.
