Hot on the heels of Microsoft announcing plans to open its first Innovation Center in the United States, the company has also revealed it will create a new training facility for new employees in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The Seattle Times reports that the office, to be called the Microsoft Canada Excellence Centre, is scheduled to open in late 2015. It will be put in place inside the Pacific Centre shopping mall in downtown Vancouver, shown above.
Microsoft says it will spend $90 million on the center, which will offer training to employees that work at the company"s Applications and Services Group. That division is responsible for quite a few Microsoft products and services, such as Bing, Office, Skype and more. Microsoft will start hiring for the center later this summer and it could grow to hold up to 400 employees.
Microsoft already has a large game development team in Vancouver, Black Tusk Studios. That group is currently working on the next game in the Gears of War series for the Xbox One console. Another Microsoft-owned game developer in the city is BigPark, which has released three games for the Xbox 360.
