Microsoft is planning to release a new version of its business-themed Microsoft Exchange email server program sometime in 2012. The new version, code-named Exchange 15, has already had a private tech preview released around the same time Microsoft released a tech build of Office 15 to a limited number of testers.
So far, little information about Exchange 15 has been revealed. However, that should change later this year when Microsoft holds the 2012 edition of the Microsoft Exchange Conference. In a post today on the Exchange Team blog (via ZDNet) Microsoft announced that registration has started for MEC 2012. The "lost" conference will be held in Orlando, Florida on September 24-26. It will be the first time in 10 years that Microsoft has held a MEC event.
According to Microsoft, MEC 2012 will give its attendees "exclusive Exchange 15 content directly from the engineering team" along with "hands-on experience with Exchange 15" and "unparalleled access to Exchange team members, Masters and MVPs." The blog post also confirms Microsoft plans to release a beta version of Exchange 15 later this summer.
The final version of Exchange 15, along with the rest of the Office 15 software line up, is expected to be released before the end of 2012.
