Microsoft is expanding the reach of its Xbox brand once again with the announcement that it will stream performances from the 2014 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The annual gathering will be held June 12-15 in Manchester, Tenn.
Microsoft"s Xbox Wire website states:
This new partnership will give Xbox users unprecedented access to the live Bonnaroo experience through an exclusive, interactive television event that will be streaming in high-definition where available. Enjoy live music like never before, with multiple streams featuring the best performances, biggest artists and amazing SuperJams. Explore this year’s lineup to see the best of Bonnaroo’s past with exclusive performances. Join the conversation with fellow virtual-Bonnaroovians and get connected to your friends and the festival.
This week"s announcement doesn"t make clear if the Bonnaroo streaming event will be available just on Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles or if it will also be made available for PC users via the Xbox Video client. There"s also no word on what the price will be to access the video stream. Microsoft will offer an Xbox Bonnaroo app for download later this month so it can show the lineup announcement event for the festival on Feb. 19.
Microsoft has plans to release a number of original video programs for Xbox owners later in 2014, including a documentary that looks at the alleged burial of millions of Atari 26000 "E.T." video games in New Mexico.
