Microsoft is set to launch a new version of the logo of its Bing search engine this Thursday, according to a report by Adage. Microsoft"s Ryan Gavin revealed to Neowin last November that a wider branding refresh was on the way, following the introduction of a new version of the Bing app for iPhone.
The search engine will get a minor facelift, changing the color scheme to teal as it is "easier to see over yellow," the service"s current logo color, according to a Microsoft spokeswoman. Also, the "b" in in the logo will now be capitalized, while the stylized "b" icon will also be revised slightly.
This is the second update to the logo, since being released in June 2009, and giving it a major overhaul in September 2013.
Rik van der Kooi, Microsoft"s corporate VP of advertiser and publisher solutions, expects Bing to further grow and states that he is happy with the service"s experienced trajectory. He said:
We are the only search engine that is experiencing steady, consistent growth and have increased our share for 26 consecutive quarters. And we"re not slowing down.
Bing is the default search engine on Windows 10, which Microsoft has been aggressively pushing to its customers, as well as the Edge browser. Furthermore, it powers Apple"s voice assistant Siri, Amazon Alexa, and more recently, AOL.
Despite being second best to Google in the search engine wars, Bing still has a 21% market share, and was able to pull in over $1 billion in revenue in the past quarter, according to the report.
