After poor sales of its Lumia devices last quarter, which left the company with higher-than-expected inventory, Microsoft introduced a buy-one-get-one-free offer in the US and Canada last month to help it shift stocks of its Windows 10 Mobile flagships.
There was no such luck for those in the UK, where Microsoft instead offered £40 off a Lumia 950 when purchased with a Surface device a few weeks ago. But perhaps its latest offer will get British buyers a bit more interested in picking up a Lumia 950 or 950 XL.
From today, Microsoft is giving away a free Display Dock, worth £79.99, to those who purchase a Lumia 950 or 950 XL. The Display Dock allows users to connect a mouse and keyboard to their phone, and then hook up the phone to a larger display, effectively turning the device into a mini-PC, complete with a desktop-style Start menu and interface.
Microsoft UK is currently charging £399.99 for the Lumia 950, and £469.99 for the Lumia 950 XL. However, the free Dock offer extends to purchases made "from authorized retailers in the UK", and is not limited solely to those handsets bought from the Microsoft Store, so you may be able to save more by buying elsewhere.
