Microsoft updates Groove music app for Windows Insiders with more color, UX improvements

A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft released a preview of the latest update for its Groove music app on Windows 10, introducing a new playlists feature known as "Your Groove".

Now, it"s rolling out a new Groove update for Windows 10 PC, phone and HoloLens users in the Windows Insider Fast ring. The update bumps the version number up to 3.6.2298.0, and brings a range of improvements.

The most visible change can be found in Your Groove and Explore, making these parts of the app "more colorful and vibrant".

Additional improvements include:

  • Unplayable tracks won"t be added to Now Playing to give you a better playback experience.
  • The app retries loading streaming songs a few times when it used to try only once.
  • 23 UX tweaks including messaging improvements, updates for Narrator, and updates to the accuracy of playlists lengths.
  • Fixes for crashes when using scroll wheel while viewing an artist detail page and when clicking on "more" in artist details.

Microsoft is also encouraging users to get a Groove Music Pass subscription by offering three free months with the purchase of one month of service, priced at $9.99.
