Microsoft updates Outlook.com Android app with new features

Microsoft released its last update for its Android Outlook.com app in May and today the company has released another update for the software via Google Play. The update contains a number of new features that have previously been made available for Windows 8 and desktop users but are now supported from within the Android app.

The Outlook blog states that one of the changes in the app allows users to download all of their Outlook.com emails to their Android device, no matter how old those emails are. Another change allows app users to search for emails on their account, even if they are not actually stored on their phones, via a server-side connection. Both of these changes should make it easier for Android device owners to manage their Outlook.com messages.

The Android app can now let users send emails from any of their Outlook.com aliases for the first time. Earlier this week it was revealed that Outlook.com has recently put in support for + aliases. The update can also allow for people to set their vacation email replies from within the app. Finally, the Android app now allows users to customize its colors, with a choice of 11 different selections.
