Last month, Microsoft announced the Project Rome SDK for Android which would increase user engagement by providing experiences that would blur the lines between consumers and their devices, irrespective of the latter"s operating system or form factor.
Now, in the first update to the SDK since launch, Microsoft has introduced support for app services in Project Rome.
App services allow apps to offer services which will allow other applications to connect with them. Previously, Project Rome only allowed Android devices to send a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) to a Windows device. With the latest update, connecting between Android and Windows devices has been made easier.
Microsoft has also provided code samples that will allow developers to take advantage of app services. The company says that:
The power of the Project Rome platform is centered around connecting devices (both Windows and Android). With the introduction of app services functionality into the Android SDK, we continue to provide the tools developers need to create highly compelling experiences.
