Back in October, Microsoft released a new Surface Hub app on Windows 8.1, which it said was designed to help users to "get the most out of" their Surface Pro 3 tablets. The app offered pretty limited functionality though, only allowing users to tweak configuration options for the Surface Pen.
As Windows IT Pro reports, Microsoft has now updated the app, bringing new features, including:
Ability to turn off the Windows button
The hardware button that brings up the Start screen certainly has its uses, but it can get in the way, especially while writing or drawing on the display. Surface Hub now allows users to switch off the button completely.
Help with using the Surface Pro 3
A new "User Education" section is now available within the app, with links to info on using and configuring the tablet, and introducing some of the apps that come pre-installed on the device.
Clearer SKU information
The SKU field has now been changed to include a more accurate description of the device"s specific configuration. Rather than generically identifying itself as "Surface_Pro_3" as it did before, the SKU entry is now slightly more descriptive, e.g. "Surface Pro 3 i5". This change won"t really affect end-users, but will help in enterprise environments with managing hardware deployments and software updates.
The updated app is now available via the Windows Store, so if you install it on your device, be sure to let us know what you think of the latest changes in the comments below!
